He was sitting on one of my old Zennias. He wasn't afraid of me when I got so close.I thought he was the prettiest Butterfly I ever saw.
Glendann, that is a Tiger Swallowtail. They are a joy to watch flying around the garden aren't they? They are attracted to Buddleia, Honeysuckle, Bee Balm, Sunflowers, Lilacs, Willows, Birch, Tulips and Cherries.
I just LOVE tiger swallowtail butterflies! She is a beauty Glendann!!! You can tell it's a she because of those blue patches on her wings. :-D
Oh I had no idea it was a beautiful lady.Thank you all for telling me and also what kind of butterfly. Are the males as pretty as she is.Yes toni I enjoyed just watching her as she didn't care she was so busy sipping.I'm a nut on anything that has blue I think that makes her stand out.
Yes, the males are pretty too, but without the blue patches. Other than that they are identical. I had one zip by my garden but did not bother to stop by...maybe when my zinnias get going.
Stunning photos, Glenda! Really well caught, you're getting soo good with that camera. Oh, and a very loverly flutter-by, too. :-D
Glenda how I wish I could see a few of those gorgeous butterflies around my garden!! Sadly I've only ever seen one at a buterfly centre. Your photographs are excellent - so sharp!!!
You have so many butterflys! Maybe when my butterfly bushes get going. Your pics really are wonderful, I love the close-ups.
Thank you and Richie and the boys for my wonderful Mothers Day Gift.I am having a snapping good time.
