My wife planted sunflower seeds with my son three weeks ago. The plants started to spout and everything was looking great. Over the past three days it seems that something is eating the leaves.

Has anyone experienced this before? I will try to take pictures and post but I am not sure how to post pictures.

    Thank you.

It would be great if you could post some photographs Flash as it's difficult to know exactly what could be eating your sunflower leaves. Are there holes in the leaves ot notches out of them? It could be deer or rabbits or even some type of caterpillar or insect.

This just happened to me, I go out to check the garden and my sunflower seedlings are gone they just made it through the soil. Boy was I mad, the stem is there but the little baby leaves are gone, also I noticed a seed shell on top of the soil so something dug that out. Makes me real mad. I hate living in the woods sometimes!! Help

This is probably those nice little creatures called slugs and snails. They just love nice tender leaves coming through the soil. Try copper bands when planting your seeds/seedlings. This should help.

I had planted 2 packets of sunflower seeds, and only a few have sprouted, and at least one that I know of was completely eaten! It was getting kind of tall too. The seed had been dug up and the stem and leaves devoured...
We do have a lot of icky snails in this area, so, I'm thinking it could have been that..

and/or the mole thats going through my garden.
