    Hello everyone

    I live on the southern edge of the lovely Isle of Wight - that's south of the UK (often referred to as the "North Island"!) I'm hoping to trade seeds with others on here and ask / give advice.

    Looking forward to "meeting" everyone

    Linlin

    Hi Linlin and a big welcome to GardenStew. I'm sure you will have a lot of opportunities to do seed exchanges and hope you fnd what you want.

    What's your weather like in the Isle of Wight these days? I hear there is some really bad flooding elsewhere.

    Hope you have a great time here,
    // Frank

    Hi Frank

    It's been pretty wet recently, but as I'm only two miles from the coast the clouds tend to rain a bit further inland. England has been some terrible weather recently and I feel really sorry for all those coping with floods.

    Hi Everyone

    Thanks for the warm welcome. Another wet and windy day looms here and the forecast for tomorrow is worse! I've been asked to provide three small bouquets tomorrow evening but I don't think there'll be enough sun to open the flower buds, so I'm wondering if anyone knows any tricks to hasten flowering - mostly sweet peas; roses; and dahlias.

    Plants which are native to this part of the world are poppies (I have loads of seed heads), bay, and a pale-leaved plant which flowers in a yellow stalk approx 3-4' tall. I'll have to post some photos when I get the chance.

    I'll also be asking questions on how to manage my huge garden and get rid (or limit) moles and rabbits.
