I am so very glad to find this site. I live in North Texas and I love gardening. There is nothing better than fresh vegetables. I currently have tomatoes and peppers growing in my garden. I also have some cantaloupe that somehow made it through all of the rain and decided to grow. I hope that it makes it, but I'm afraid the fall frost will come before it is ready. I am ready to plant for fall, but I really don't know what I can plant this time of year. Anyone out there got any ideas. I am about 45 minutes away from the Oklahoma border.

Hello there Grammarbug from West lothian in Scotland. :-D WELCOME to our forums and, as we have quite a few members from your area, I'm sure someone will have suggestions on what you can plant for fall.

Hi Grammarbug, welcome to the Stew from another north Texan. I am in Carrollton. Glad you joined us.

This time of the year you find all sorts of perennials on sale at garden centers that have lots of life in them. They have plenty of time to establish and bloom before whatever winter we are going to get arrives.

As for vegies, we still have almost 90 days of growing weather so there are several vegies you can start now and harvest in October, especially since August is supposed to be out hottest weather of this summer.

Hi Grammarbug from Southern NM (near El Paso). Guess we have a lot in common. I too have the same things planted in my garden and I'm a language arts teacher! I'm just now getting some jalapeno peppers, but my tomatoes haven't begun to color yet. Hoping to get watermelons and cantaloupes before a frost too! Welcome to the "Stew".
