I am in Ohio and just found this site. I am having trouble with honey bees getting on my humming bird feeders and that is how I found this place. Hope I can get some help. I am married with two kids two grand babies. I am a stay at home lady. I enjoy doing a garden and my roses. I have more places to plant flowers just need to decide what kind I want. I have been thinking about doing a all white scented garden. But as it is getting later in the year that will have to wait. Then I am sure I will have tons more questions. Evelyn

Hello Evelyn and WELCOME to The Stew from West Lothian in Scotland. :-D I have many different kinds of bees in the garden and, like Lexxi, am glad to have them around. I don't think they'll stop the hummingbirds using the feeders but as I don't have hummers here (worst luck) maybe someone from your neck of the woods will be able to offer you some advice. Hi Evelyn, Welcome from Delaware, USA. Honey bees and hummingbirds both like your feeders...its a common problem. There are honey bee guards you can buy to attach to your feeders. A company called Perky Pet makes them I know, and this company is readily available everywhere.
Well I guess that the honey bees like my feeders the best. There are people around here that has never had the first bee. This is the first year we have had them. Could there be a nest somewhere close by? I just hate it that the birds can't eat.
Hi Evelyn! An all-white scented garden sounds so beautiful - I hope you bring it to life! When I used to live in Michigan we would go to the sensory garden at Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, MI and they had some great smelling flowers. One I really remember is Zaluzianskya 'Midnight Candy (Night Phlox)' bloom in the evenings and give off an almond scent. They're very simple and pretty.
