Hi everyone I grew this from a seed about 2 months ago but I dunno what seed it was... Somone give me thme... Any ideas? Flower: Plant: Any advice?
Appears to be a Grampa Ott's Morning Glory, they are beautiful when a trellis or fence is covered with the blooms every morning.
Do the blooms close at night? I have got it wrapped on my balcony at moment hopin it willcover the metal surrond!
Actually the blooms last only one morning they die when the day gets hot and more blooms open the next morning. All parts of it are poisonous so be sure it is not growing where pets or children could take a taste.
I have cats but they don't go near it. I wonderd why a flower was on the other morning and wasnt there the afternoon!!!! Hehe the flowers are very nice though theres only a single one at moment tho.... will more come?
I don't know how long your growing period is but if you have it in full sun and have another month or so of good growing weather you should get more blooms. They are annuals but will re-seed themselves in the right conditions.
Hi there It is indeed the Ipomoea purpurea. Around here the common name for that plant is the Morning Glory. though most of the plants in that family is poisonous, there are some edible plants like the sweet potato. The Ipomoea alba is the white flower and blooms at night.
just be careful with this as over if yo breack a piece while gardening it will just come up antwere I am a caregiver and one of my clients had it growing in her garden so I planted it .and 3 years later it is coming up everyere and I AM HAVING JOB GETTING RID OF IT
