Hi my name is Vicki and I live in Carrollton, which is in North Texas. It is also clay central as far as soil goes. I planted geraniums in my front yard. Half of them get sun all day long and look great, the other half is in shade except for about 3 hrs a day and have died. I need to know if there's some type of flowering plant that will do well in either sun or shade. If not flowering, then just maybe some sort of plant that would look nice. I'm not much of a gardener and I usually buy my plants at Walmart. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
Hi Vicki, welcome to the Stew from north Texas....specifically Carrollton. Small world after all isn't it? Check out native Texas plants, that would be your best bet since we are talking about drought conditions, lots of heat and humidity and black clay soil. Many of them will do well in sun or part shade and there are plenty that do well in less than 6 hours of sun per day.
Welcome Vicki. The Stew crew is very helpful, so I'm sure you'll get lots of great tips for your garden. But not from me. I'm from Norway, and what you grow in your garden, I grow in my window sill.
Welcome to GardenStew Vicki, great to have another Texas representative aboard If you don't get your exact answer to your question here you should ask in the Flower Gardening forum instead. Hope you get to meet everyone soon, // Frank
Hi there from another member ..... this time from Scotland. I have a feeling that you're going to fit in here just fine Vicki. :-D Glad to have you aboard.
Thanks Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Hopefully I can find the answers I'm looking for here! Vicki
