Hello Im Michael from Parramatta, a western suburb of Sydney. My other half, Karen, and I are fairly new gardeners. We know next to nothing and will be requiring advice. Karen has sent me on a mission to find out about saving seeds, and how to go about this. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hi there Michael. Welcome to GardenStew from an autumnal Scotland. You and Karen will find our members eager to share their knowledge so feel free to ask as many questions as you like. We love to help each other out here.
Welcome from Oregon - always glad to have more people aboard. We're all learning, in one way or another, you're in good company.
welcome michael-you had a question on seed saving. There are going to be many differant types of seeds. Some will need to take some drying out first. this can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks depending on the seed or bulb. If not dried out they will pick up moisture and will begin to mold or rot. so drying is very important. just about anything can be used to save them: a small ziplock baggy plastic cups envelopes clean empty medicine bottles br paper lunch bag these are a few ideas, but sure to always label your container and note anything you might want to remember about that flower. I like to date mine also. I hope this helps you out. you can look for 'flower saving' on the web too, that might give you more ideas. Great bunch of people here, hope you find us helpful here at the Stew.
Thankyou for your reply. Sorry I have not been in to comment back. Karen went into premature labour and I am now the very proud (and tired) father of twin girls, Eliza Ann, and Louise Rachael. We had no idea that we were having twins, but it was a pleasant surprise. They were born four months early. It is hard for Karen and I as we are unable to pick them up. The two of them would fit quite comfortably in my hand. They are so cute. It will probably be a couple of months until they can leave the hospital. As you can imagine, gardening is the last priority at the moment. I will be back here getting loads of info though. Thankyou for your help.
