I been working on this for 2 days now, off an on. I know everyone at one time or another has made one of these if your a crafter. But this one is my first using only things i found in the artic. Heres the list: pinecones from the Norwegian Pine, island slav (icelandic reindeer moss) which grows in the marshes here, rowen berries outta the fields on the farm and the fuzzy things are called marsh wool (i call them bunny tails)also grows in the marsh. and this is the result. ofcourse the ribbon is not from the land but hey it looks nice an shiny...lol. Happy Holidays
That is really beautiful. Did you glue the pinecones together or onto a cone shaped form? I just might have to search the craft store for some white fuzzy stuff and berries...since all I have on hand are the pinecones. If you use silk ribbon then it too would quality as coming from nature.
Wow Biita you've been hiding your talent from us!!! Your tree is gorgeous!! You have a real eye for what looks good and the result is absolutely stunning.
OH! It's just marvelous, Biita. It makes the plain pinecone tree that I made look positively dull. :? I may have to take a page from your book and add a few berries for color - I wish I had some "Bunny Tails" to tuck in, those are teriffic! :-D
Thank you all, it was so easy to do. Toni the pinecones are hot glued together, an sadly its just plain plastic metalic like ribbon. lol,, but thats okay its sparkly. i'm working on a wreath at the moment out of pinecones an the other out of greenery. i will post when they get done.
What a lovely, cheery tree! Just needs a little squirrel peeping out somewhere... (hey, some cooks add a little nutmeg to everything, I add a little sqirrel to everything, lol!)
Nice tree! I like the marsh wool. It can be sutstituted with cotton or merino wol. You do lovely work, Biita.
Wow Biita, that looks great! It figures...I just gave a huge box of cones to my daughters class for decorating! Should have saved some for myself!
Bitta... I like all the interesting things you added to the pinecone tree. I used to make pinecone wreaths and I still have a few that I bring out at Christmas... Thank you for sharing your idea...I love it...
Thank you all!! i love to do crafts, an just let the imagination run wild. Its therapy. And because its an individual creation there is no right or wrong. Bring on the hot glue gun!!! or paint,, or sewing needles,,, or or or ,,,,,
--and her talentfull abilities just go on and on and on..... it's just smashing! This tree and it's elements I recognize, although I know them by other names. I really like the looks of this latest craft. I can picture it on a mantle or a salon table...an end table perhaps. It's so versatile that one could put it almost anywhere. Well done, you.
