A lovely iron horse! I'm so glad it hasn't been melted down. Your daughter looks as if she enjoyed herself immensely.
That's one fabulous looking machine, a bit sad that it is not able to fulfill its original purpose anymore. Thanks for posting these Suzy.
Ahhh the memories that your piccies evoke!!! :-D I loved the steam trains that used to run through Edinburgh and would spend hours with my dad watching them. Obviously they still hold the same fascination for the children of today as your daughter looks as though she's having a wonderful time.
I remember taking a train to Green Bay when I was younger. I wonder if they ever regret getting rid of the trains....???? I would think it would be so much cheaper than gas but who knows, I guess you would need quite a few people that use it too... I had a neighbor growing up that worked for the railroad and we got to go and check them out close-up. Really interesting...
That is something I'd love to see again! When I was a young girl I spent 4 weeks at my grandmothers in Germany. She lived beside the train station and I loved to watch the trains and pick up the coal dropped from them.
Ashley had a really good time, I took that way home yesterday from going to the UPS office. There are several old trains and cars in this area. Most are like this, they still sit on a section of track that has not been pulled up and most are painted and taken care of, I wish I could have climbed the steps to see the inside the cuboose. The steps were just way too far off the ground and I weigh too much to pull myself up
Great looking train, if Ashley loves trains like my youngest grandson did I can well imagine that she had a wonderful time. I would love to have an old caboose to make into a lake house or a getaway in the woods. There is a collection of old trains at the Texas State Fair grounds and there are a couple of old steam trains that you can take rides on around here too. The one in east Texas is a wonderful day trip.
