    Hey,

Yes, it's the newbie again

So, on my last post (Hi, from Oklahoma) I gave a list of the seeds I've recently ordered for my first garden this year. I also included that my family is a gluten free family and was wondering if there are any others with the same allergies or anyone who is interested in these, and wanted to share recipes if you all were up for it!

We tried gluten-free recipes from a Gluten-free desserts cookbook I picked up at Half Priced books a couple of years ago.
If you would like it, send me a PM with your mailing address and I will send it to you. I would rather see someone use it then have it sit on my shelf getting dusty. It's The Gluten-Free Gourmet Makes Dessert by Bette Hagman.

    To all gluten free families

We started a gluten free group in Crawley, West Sussex in Feb 2007, so last weekend we celebrated our first anniversary, take a look at our web site www.glutenfree-crawley.org.uk if you want GF Recipes go to our page, we now have over 30 recipes all available for you free of any costs. We don't charge, see pitures of our Celebration day, attached to newsletter 11, The Deputy Mayor & Mayoress of Crawley came to our special day, it was great, GF Suppliers from all over the UK supplied us with boxes of samples. We then ran a raffle to cover all our costs, see our page How to set up a GF Group.
If you want help or need to ask some questions go to our Comment page, our web site was developed free, lets know what you think of it

A girl I babysat when I was in high school was allergic to gluten- it seemed like such a challenge then but I get the sense there are such better resources now to help families out. I have read that cutting out gluten can actually be a good thing for your health so I've looked into it but still feel a bit overwhelmed.

Yes! Gluten causes weight gain among other health issues. I've found this awesome mix called Pamela's Baking Mix and its a mixture of almond flour, tapioca flour, rice (brown and white) flour, potato starch, etc and its sooooo good! I'd rather have that any day! It's kinda expensive (4lb for $15.99 here at Wild Oats) but, if i dont bake too often, its really worth it! This is so popular in our church seeing as how there are many gluten free families, so its definitely a variety that everyone seems to love so far. Just something to try! For unleavened flour, I mix rice, sorghum, and buckwheat, so you can kind of make your own mixtures that way too. Just a note, there are quite a few recipes on the back of the Pamela's bag to follow that are excellent! Google it and see what you think. Anyway, hope this helps.
    Ciao!
    Amanda
