I was over at my property yesterday and the resident gator was out sunning. As soon as I moved in for a better shot he sank his body down in the water. The last picture is from the road when I first saw him. My camera zoom is not that good. But here are a few pictures.
I remember seeing those guys in canals and ponds and sometimes in the middle of the road at night when I lived in south Florida. And I well remember being in a canoe on a canal when one of them surfaced and rolled right in front of us. My oldest daughter was about 7 at the time and sitting in the front of the canoe. She never made a sound but from behind her we could see her whole body shaking while she silently cried. Being in a canoe I couldn't grab and hold her so we had to head back to the dock really quick so I could get her out. She never went back in that canoe.
Great photographs but I have to admit that I'm rather glad we don't have wildlife in our country like your alligator!!
I like to see them, but preferably on photographs and TV. I'd not like them in my yard! Will it move out when you move in, or will you co-exist out there?
I have grown up around them in the neighborhood. I will definitly co-exist with them. The other day he was on the bank out of the water sunning. I went to take the camera out and the batteries were dead. I am trying to get some better close up pictures and will share any new 1's I get.
Oh my - I will think twice before I come to Florida. Firstly the Palms will call me and secondly the gators will scre me away hehehe. (Only now I am glad my husband did not take the job in Florida some 7 years ago.)
