Love it Pete. It is so beautiful, neat and serene. Some people have the nack of placing things where they look their best, like they really belong there. Mine just ends up looking like a miss-mash of container plants. You get an A+ !
Lovely looking garden. Nicely planned and executed. The various features really make it look neat and attractive. That piece of wood at pond's edge resembles a waterbird to me.
That was a lucky find. It's bigger than the average heron, but seems to do the job. Most of the garden is 'unexploded' still at the moment as it's very much a 'green' space with all the shrubs. But in time I hope it will be zinging with colour. I put in a new Lonicera (Tellmaniana) honeysuckle next to the pergola so I can begin to soften the lines of it, as it (hopefully) grows up and around it. I found the one I planted this time last year on the arched bed has grown beyond expectation. However the honeysuckle on the other arch (name unknown) is so slow it hasn't changed much over the year. It has very pointed much darker leaves like spears. Out of interest, this is how the garden looked when I moved in 18 months ago. Puzzlingly, the estate agents blurb said it was an attractive feature of the property .
A lot of the main transformation was finished off last summer, Droopy (so more like 12 months). Lately I've just been adding small additional touches, as we do. I picked up a super secondhand table for the pergola last Thursday, from the council recycling shop, for only £3 ($6 approx.) It's exactly the right colour green, and although in strong thick plastic, looks like wrought iron...you can see it in the fourth pic down. I'm always on the look out for budget-priced goodies. A large glazed earthenware container from the same place I got for $4. Needless to say it's a place I visit once a week.
And here I was, thinking that was a cast-iron table. You've done an amazing job in such a short time. I guess your winters are so mild you can do construction work outside all year around? I'm no good at winter work, I'm afraid. Even though this part of Norway is fairly mild, it's still too cold.
I'm so impressed! I've been in this house for almost 5 years and I haven't gotten that much done yet! Fantastic!
Well I don't agree with that estate agent at all!! The garden was soooo boring until you worked your magic on it Pete. Now it's beautiful paradise that just seems to get better and better every time I see it!!
Looks great and wonderfully green. I love your garden art. Most of our snow is gone now, and I'm encouraged to see some green sprigs starting to peek out of the ground. We had snow flurries again today, though, and it shooed me back inside.
