I managed to acquire a 3D Garden Designer CD-Rom a while ago and although I've tested a few ideas and done a virtual walk through them, I'm still learning how to use it properly, hopefully being able to add more detail into the design. Mind you, I've only had a computer for just over a year, never having owned one before, so I'm quite pleased with the progress I'm making with the various aspects of computer-ownership so far. Has anyone else tried 3D Garden Design programmes and do you recommend any specific programme(s) of this type, which give a vast choice of detail options, allowing a variety of creation possibilites ? There is lots of 3D Garden design software . They can be bought in any computer shop . Some require a knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Design ) There is a site ?? for garden design ,possibly BBC Tv , but I cannot remember where . If I find it I'll let you know 8) Bugs

I've not tried the site mentioned, but the Garden Design programme I obtained was part of a 2 disc set, the other disc containing a plant encyclopedia. This set is a great addition to my gardening book collection. I should be receiving another disc soon, which contains images of drawn/painted plants, which may visually improve any designs I draw on A3-size paper by helping me understand how best to draw plants myself to the side of the plan and numbered to correspond with the numbers indicating the plants' location in the design, rather than using images taken from books, etc. I think it would look great if the design (on paper) as well as sketches of plants, etc., are all done by me. It is kind of asking a lot, but I'll consider it a challenge to myself. C.J.
I have the landscapers pro program that i downloaded...and if u download they will send you the cd rom soon after it kind neat..but im stilll learning it.u can put a pic of your home and it will show real time,with the lil trees blowin in the wind with lil birdies flyin..how cute!
After having another few attempts at basic garden design with my Garden Design cd-rom, I decided to try the BBC virtual garden program and was surprised what good quality it is. Although with limitations, choice of plants, etc., it does let you design a pretty good layout to give a feel for any direction you may consider on ground cover, structure, height of plants, etc. I wish I had something like this ages ago, when my garden was a blank canvas, as it would have been exciting to see what I could think up. Although at the time I did make a plan, but on paper, which obviously lacked the ability to 'walk around' in 3D. This program could help those who have not yet started gardening, or just beginning to. Breaking up the garden into sections, decking, gravel, patio, etc. I'd highly recommend it to anyone I know, who, although very much the novice 'gardening wise', can at least get an idea what they'd like, using their own imagination. I'll be having a few more shots of it as well. C.J.
Hello. Just me again As I've been getting a bit more adventurous with my Garden Design 3D cd-rom, I thought I'd let you know more about the contents and possibilities when using it - The scale of the garden can go up to the size of a small park (which is actually quite large), also you can include buildings and vehicles (including - camper van, speedboat, yacht, articulated lorry and many others). There is also the possibility of custom building structures and the encyclopedia with choices of many plants which you can put into your 3D garden is fantastic ! This cd-rom is called - 'Geoff Hamilton's 3D Garden Designer.' HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! It is as easy to use as the downloadable garden design program mentioned elsewhere. C.J.
