Look what we found visiting our bird feeder. She use to visit us at night but she has babies now so she visits us during the day for a bite to eat. Since she is a new momma we decided to leave her food. As you can see, I took several photos of her because she is soo darn cute.
aww, I like raccoons When they arent tearing up my feeders Back in '06 I had a granddaddy raccoon (this sucker was huge!) come by and destroy one....
You got some great shots . I love the bandits.I raised two from babies with a regular baby bottle. They would have died as their mom was dead and they were yelling their little squeaky mouths off.I still have a soft spot in my heart for racoons.
I think racoons are so cute, until they visit the garbage cans. When i lived in Pa. we used to have the lids on the cans, with a huge rock ontop,, every single night they got to it anyways. then we built a shed for the cans...problem solved..lol. Those pics are so nice, and that is one cute racoon.
They are sooo sweet! I love to see them, but we haven't got them here. Thanks for sharing her. She's a lovely, little mommy.
What a great shot of that racoon. I find them such interesting animals, and your fotos are good ones, Daph. Thank yopu for showing these. It's really nice to see an animal that we do not have here. Such good candid fotos.
I scrolled down your piccies quickly Daph (after looking at each one) and almost got a video clip of your racoon. :-D An excellent group of photographs. I love their mobile hands and the black masks on their faces. I wonder if she'll bring her babies to dine when they're weaned?
Great pictures...I had them when we lived in the country and they would come at night and they stole a bird feeder which we never found on our 3 acres. I had to take my feeders in at night and then they quit coming. I had 3 small young ones when I looked out one night when I couldn't sleep...
Great pictures. They're pretty pesty around us too. Had to buy locking lids for our garbage cans or they'd sniff out any chicken bones in them and make a big mess.
She was pulling apart our birdfeeder and dumping the seed/fruit/nut mixture on the ground. My husband put a post up and attached plant hooks to hold the birdfeeders. As you can see from the photos, she uses the hooks as a stepladder now. Now my feeders are not pulled apart. She climbs up and helps herself. Years ago (before we moved) we had 3 racoons that would come for a visit just about every night. One night I walked out the back door and found 2 standing by our garbage can and the third sitting in our garbage can. Pretty clever critters. I moved the garbage can where they could not get to them. Problem solved. My neighbors should have done the same thing I did. They tried to chase off the raccoons nightly. The critters end up dragging his garbage can in the woods. Glendann, it's good too know their's other people that watch out for the critters too. I sure hope she brings her babies around too. If she does, I'll make sure to take photos.
Oh yeah, I'd love to see pics of the babies if you get any. I used to have a raccoon here, but I think she's moved on. She used to steal my suet nightly, she'd take it right off the hook and I'd see it out in the thicket behind my house. To far in the prickers and such to bother fetching. I think I lost a dozen or so before DH figured out a way to attach it to the hook so she couldn't get it off. Then she just open it and take the whole block of suet, but that was ok with me at least I didn't have to keep replacing the suet holder all the time. They are very cute. Thanks for sharing.
I now it is a pain but you should bring the bird feeders in at night. After dark they feed all the critters who will one day find your attic a cozy nesting spot that is close to the food source. At night bird feeders are mostly rat feeders.
