Some of my summer squash is ready to plant in the garden. Considering it is getting to 80F here in the afternoon and our sun is HOT is it better to transplant it in the early morning or in the late afternoon. I would set my soaker hoses at the same time and water them good. Dooley
Dooley I don't know much about squashes as I've never grown them but I usually do my transplanting in the early morning so that the soil heats up nicely throughout the day. However, I have a completely different climate to yours so I'm probably way off target. I hope someone else can help you out more.
I don't like to transplant when the hot sun will be shining to wilt the tender plants. Early evening is my choice and of course the plants should have been hardenen off for a few days at least.
I agree - I've had the best luck with transplants done after the heat of the day is past, with plenty of water that's had a shot of B-1 added to it to reduce the transplant shock.
