Smack in the middle of the Prairies, situated on what used to be the bottom of a lake. Mmmm, gumbo soils! Just planted my small vegetable garden, but every now and then there's still frost warnings. Late spring this year. - Chris

Welcome from Wisconsin...we are still getting frost here too. The weather is so unpredictable this year..and the winds so strong...
Thanks, everybody! I usually grow the basics, like tomatoes, but for a few years I've been growing nice and hot jalapenos! This year, though, I'm trying pimentos, heirloom and cherry tomatoes, and one nice watermelon plant, which will snake around the others. My plot is about 10 ft by 6 ft, but with compost and manure added every spring, man does it produce lots of good food!
