Lately at my Oriole feeders I have had different birds. I guess they just like the sweetness of the nectar and the grape jam. A sugar junkie...as you notice when I post the goldfinch he is a little plump...but oh so cute. He was on a chair arm close by. female oriole Hummingbird Downy woodpecker...he likes to drink the nectar Male oriole
Thank you Sherry for ID'ing some birds we have had in the yard this spring. Housefinches....every time we sat out back in the late afternoon we would see them and I would say "I have to look in my bird book when we go back inside, to see what they are" and as usual I forgot before getting out of my chair I haven't seen Orioles around here but I think they do show up in parts of Texas. Beautiful photos, they all look like they enjoy having their picture taken and know how to 'strike a pose'
I really love to see what feathered friends visit other peoples gardens. Here in Scotland we don't have any of the birds in your photographs so I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing them all.
Thats some cool pics and i think we have that woodpecker or a avian species like it,great shot of the hummingbird and sweet photo of the finches.
Wonderful shots as always Sherry. I saw an Oriole in my yard yesterday, first time I've ever seen them. I hope they stay around.
Netty...the trick to keep the orioles in your yard is to be ready for them and get food (jam or jelly) or the nectar right away...I always put mine out a week before they came the last year. Change often.
Hi Sherry! Those are some nice pictures! The Baltimore Orioles stayed here a week or two on their way north this year. I was ready for them with a feeder this time! After they moved on, I left the feeder up for the house finches. I had to send my camera in for repair so I haven't been able to take any pictues for a couple of weeks. It's supposed to be back today. I'm so excited! Thanks for sharing the pictures. They're really good. Martha
Kaseylib...I have a Canon Powershot S51S.. Bluebirdie...I hope you get your camera back. I have quite a few around here but none compare to the powershot. I hope I see some of your pictures soon. I might not have many flowers to take pictures of if we don't quit getting so much rain here. I have bark floating in my back flower bed again....this has been unreal with all the gardening challenges here. I want to catch that rabbit that keeps eating everything too. I had some miniature hollyhocks that were growing so nicely and he chewed them all the way to the ground...3 groups of them. The liquid fence isn't working with all the rain....Sherry
