First hollyhock blossom of the year!

Hollyhocks have taken over the path from the lower drive to the front door. We noticed yesterday one had a flower. So, here is the first blossom for this year.

Then I found the second one in the evening. It's just a bit darker in color than the first one.

We don't have as many this year but there are small ones coming up all over the place so next year there should be lots of them. dooley

 

They are both lovely, Dooley! I wonder what mine will look like, and if they'll bloom this year.

 

Those are very pretty. The dark red is my fav!

 

Don't you just love them? I've planted several. I love cottage garden flowers.

Those are gorgeous Dooley. I love the colors. I have some pink ones, but they aren't flowering just yet. I'm not getting as many as last year either, but like you lots of little ones all over. They just make themselves at home where ever they choose. I'm going to move some of mine as they are not in good places. Thanks for sharing.

I have not planted any hollyhocks. We live in an area where the birds or the wind plant them. They come up where ever and I don't pull them out. They bloom the second year of growth which is why I said we should get lots of flowers from the little ones next year. They grow all over our little town even in the ditches. I guess maybe they could be called a wildflower here. dooley

 

Those are pretty hollyhocks and i think one of the finest are the apple blossom hollyhocks,i had some a couple of years ago from white flower farm they came in very good condition.

I believe i will get some more.
