Hi Poppy! I'm not sure of the fluffy one, but the first looks like Comfrey Symphytum officinale (Comfrey)
OK I'm going to have a stab at your fluffy white flowers Poppy. I think they may be Fothergilla - probably Fothergilla Gardeni. A member of the Hamamelis family indigenous to some of the central American states. Good autumn leaf colour. Hope I'm right this time.
I think ive got it eileen after a lot of googling ive come up with Columbine meadow rue please correct me if im wrong :-D
Soooo, wait a minute. I am now finding photos identified as the Columbine Meadow Rue with leaves that look nothing like the one I posted the link for. Scratch what the other post of mine, I will do some more searching when I get back this afternoon. It could be a case of common name mixup or something.
Check out this link Poppy and see if its your plant: http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/ ... denii.html
