I was out in the Schellinkhout yesterday and I saw these lovely tulips for sale. The flowers at home had been thrown away so, it was time to replace them anyway. For this price, I just couldn't let them stay on that cart, y'know?
WOW what a lovely colour they are!!! I couldn't have left them on the cart either Sjoerd, in fact knowing me, I'd have bought the lot!!!
Lucky you to find them for sale by the roadside. I, too, have tulips in my vases at home, but had to purchase them from one of our local stores. They sure add some color and brightness to an otherwise white winter world here!
Beautiful tulips, Sjoerd. I would dearly love to live in a town that had vending carts like that around town. Is that a private residence behind the cart? From what I can see, I am in love with their front garden.
I agree with Toni, that place begs to be painted! I really love the color of those and fully understand the weakness. I was in the local bulk-discount store yesterday and bought a huge tray of big bright pansies
Aren't those lovely! I'd probably end up with several bunches if I had found them here at that price. Do I spot a small canal in the background? I think you need to go back and photograph that house, Sjoerd.
What a lovely little cart Sjoerd. You don't see vendors like that around here. The garden behind looks very well looked after.
Beautiful tulips the color is wonderful.I would love to wonder around in the yard and I love the wonderful little cottage. Thanks for the great photos.
At that price - it is a steal. Wonderful colour on those tulips. Stunning. I wish we had those carts here and that they would sell flowers. The only ones I encounter here is for scrapmetal. :-|
Wow! What a reaction...I never expected such a response to these simple pictures at all. Thanks to everyone for your very nice comments. Toni: Yes indeed that is a private residence behind the cart. If you are under the impression that these little carts are scattered about over my town, you would be mistaken. This one and the many other ones (and there are lots of different styles) are located in the tiny villages that surround my hometown. This particular one is about 20-25 minutes on the bike from my flat in the village of Schellinkhout. I take the narrow dike that leads out of the eastern quarter of town to reach it. Further along the dike is a migratory bird reserve. It's a nice little trip with a picnic during the summer. Droopy, you are correct--you do indeed see a small canal between the road and the houses' yard. There are lots and lots of canals of all sizes in West-Friesland. Thank you all once again for your positive reactions.
Very pretty Sjoerd....I have never seen tulips around here with so much green left on them..so nice and full. Red is one of my many favorites.
