Does it get full sun? When did you plant it? A couple of mine started blooming last week, the mini-Stella's are beginning to bloom and the large patch out back that have been there for roughly 6 years are just setting buds. But I am a lot further south and west than you are, so the temperature and sun amount have been good for them.
None of mine look like theyre even thinking about putting buds out yet. And I dont think Im going to get any oriental blooms this year, seems the bunnies have dined on them -_- Whereabouts in Indiana are you?
My first daylily bloomed yesterday. It has bloomed the past 19 years after being planted as a seed. The first year it bloomed was 1994 on the summer solstice, it was planted in 1991 It has been blooming near the solstice every year since. The date has steadily been earlier and earlier. Perhaps a prognosticator of global warming and shifting USDA hardiness zones. I have 26 other registered daylilies and hundreds of plants from seed. Because of the shade most do not bloom every year but between all of them color is never lacking during the summer months. Daylilies can bloom in your area anywhere between Early June to late August. Re-blooms extend the season even into September. Save your seed pods and I will tell you how to grow your own from seed, its's easy!! Jerry
My early fragrant yellow has been blooming since mid May, and is just winding down. The ditch lily is budding up and it will be followed by two other then the late double peach. http://www.gardenstew.com/plantstew/album.php?album_id=1314&user_id=5463
Oh, also, the bloom time of Daylilies varies according to the species. Some bloom in early Spring, mid-spring, late-spring, early-summer, late-summer, even fall blooming. Some also will bloom in the spring then again in the fall. If you know the species name you could do a google.com search to see when the normal bloom time for them is in your climate.
They may be late this year, seems like everything is late this year. Mine are just now starting to shoot up buds and we're probably in similar zones.
