My shopping is done, Amanda and I found what we wanted to give Randy in the exact stores where we had expected them. I have a very few left to wrap. We just do not have room for a large tree, this one is 4 feet tall and is sitting on a stool that raises it 10" off the floor. But we just need something festive to put the gifts under. The closeups don't show the fruits, berries and acorns decorating it very clearly. The Yule logs are from an old Oak limb we found on Randy's folks property. The first year we had them I cut down real ivy from the side of the house, heaven knows there is enough extra out there, but it had to be replaced too often so now I use silk ivy and holly garland but the pine cones are real.
It's all so lovely, Toni. Your beautiful quilt and the wood stove, along with your beautiful tree, there is just such a cozy feeling to the whole scene. The Yule logs look great. I'd have to go with the silk ivy, too, I decorated with some fresh ivy from my yard once . . . . . . I thought I'd NEVER get rid of the ants!
Toni I love your decorations!! The yule logs are wonderful!!Congrats for getting your shopping done!! It is such a great feeling when it's all done huh? *wink*
I love your decorations, too. I'm almost ready for Christmas, but it is always ready or not here I come. Dooley
I really like your Yule log Toni. I've made a chocolate swiss roll which I decorate for Christmas instead of a 'real' yule log. Oh and those berries look great on your tree. I see the gnomes have sneaked in too!!!
A tree, a Yule log and gnomes, all the makings of a perfect Xmas! Very festive Toni I love it. I like the wooden horse in the first Yule log pic
Very nice Christmas decorations Toni but I really like the quilt on the wall behind the stove. Did you make it? It is a log cabin pattern, isn't it? I am also curios about what is hanging on the wall behind the log in the last picture. It looks interesting.
Frank that little horse in the first Yule log pic is a plastic one that Randy had as a little boy. It is only 10 inches from the floor to the top of the saddle so he was probably under two when he got it. And I have to have my gnome couple in the house, when they first arrived they plopped themselves down there and let me know that was were they belonged. Polly, I did make the quilted wall hanging. Yes, it is Log Cabin blocks with the trees and cabins machine appliqued on. The poster behind the second Yule log is a Herbal Remedies for Common Ailments chart. I thought it fit right in with my wall of herbs, candle colors and scents, soap scents, etc.
Thanks all for the nice comments. I haven't decorated much in the last few years. There was a time when almost every flat surface in the house had some sort of decoration on it, but too much stuff and too little storage in this house meant cutting back on most of the doodads.
Just lovely. Can't believe how quickly the big day is approaching! Glad you have all your shopping done. I think I am there, but now I am worrying about getting something else for my auntie! Your Yule log is fab - the children would love to see that!
Everything is lovely Toni, I only got my tree up this year, nothing else got decorated. Been working too much overtime.
