While southern areas bask in the warm sunlight of a pre-spring day, those of us in the northern latitudes still have to contend with the remnants of winter. Winter snows remain, waiting for a warm day to start the soggy garden/lawn season. Occasionally however, we benefit from 'Poor mans fertilizer', a late winter/early spring snowfall that brings with it the benefit of additional nitrogen gleaned from the atmosphere as it falls to barren ground. The snow will soon to melt as many a warm day comes with the lengthening sunlight. The ground will secure nourishment needed as the plants emerge from their winter slumber and begin to green. That's a bit of white stuff. Hopefully the melt will be slow and steady and not all at once. Where's the snowman?
Snowman? We have a missing snowman? A lot of snowmen and snowladies go missing about this time of year. :-( It is a big mystery but sometimes they are located a year later. Jerry
Never knew that about the Poor Man's Fertiliser, Jerry! From now on, I'll look at late snow in a very different way, i.e. with a smile instead of a frown. Thanks so much for the info!
Glad you have a positive outlook with all that snow. And here I am complaining about it being too cool and windy to play outside.
Here is terrible, too hot even to stay indoors in the afternoon, have to go to the shopping mall to cool down!!!
We had poor mans fertilizer again last night and it is fore- casted for much of the coming week. I am so ready for Spring!
