or 9 days until this is all over with for another year. And as God is my witness I will get things made and bought sooner next year....but then I say that every year so pay no attention to the ramblings of a tired old woman. We got our gift shopping finished today. Also found time for a stroll thru the Half-Priced books store....woe is me, I have 4 more books to read next year. We will be at Randy's folks tomorrow. The gift exchange down there has been somewhat "fixed" by us :-D :-D. His Mom had said...."Don't buy us anything, let's just do the chinese gift exchange"....(insert favorite evil sounding laugh here) little does she realize that there are ways to make sure they get specific gifts anyway. Randy's Dad really likes the whole bean coffee from Dunn Brother's down the road from us so we bought a pound of beans as one of our gifts. Randy's sister and her husband do not drink coffee and even tho Lisa and Kenny do I will let them know that it is meant for him so don't try to take it away from him. We also found a set of glass drink coasters that you can personalize with photos. We know his Mom will like those, so we will have to let Lisa and his sister know that those are not for them. Oh wait, Amanda and I still have to shop for Randy. But that will be Monday morning.....THEN we will be finished.
I was tireder than I thought last night from the shopping marathon. It is 9 days til christmas....guess that means you have an extra day to get that shopping done Richard. We will be off in about an hour. The grandsons are coming home with us to spend the night and tomorrow we will work on the gifts for their Mom and Dad.
Sometimes I wonder why we save it all for one day. If I don't get it done, there is always next week. We leave our tree up until January 3rd. Probably until the 5th this year unless I'm feeling particularly ambitious. Dooley
Our tree always comes down on the 26th. For many years I put all the decorations out on the first weekend in Dec so by the 26th I was sick of looking at it. My Mom would sometimes be taking the tree down Christmas afternoon, live trees soon become fire hazards down here.
We shopped today after a visit with our neighbor who is in the hospital. I was hoping he would want me to do some shopping for him. He has a 5 week old granddaughter and it would be such fun to shop for her. Alas, he didn't need help so we finished up what we had to do except for the food which we will do on Tuesday since I have the week off and an appointment in town on that day anyway.
We just put our tree up today. We have it fenced in with baby gates so Fred can't get to it. He kept running off with some ornaments and we'd have to run him down. I haven't finished shopping, done cards or baked anything. Oh well I guess it will all get done. Wannabe
Chance has never bothered the tree. I did have some ornaments in a bowl on the coffee table and she went up and nudged them. I think she was trying to see if they were squeakies. I moved them and filled the bowl with pinecones and branches from the pine tree. Small branches! Dooley
The first christmas we had Rambo, our black Field Spaniel, is when we realized how much he liked peppermint candies. I hung candy canes from the tree as usual and the next morning we found one sick doggy and candy cane wrappers all over the house. That was the last year I put them on the tree.
We only buy for the kids, did the neices and nephews last night, still have my kids to do. Richard is right, he still has 00000000000000 presents bought because he leaves it for me to do. LOL The dogs nor the cats have bothered the tree this year. It is up on a small table, maybe that's why.
Presents bought, trip made and decorations are up. I think everything's ready to rock and roll! I like the "fixed" exchange Toni, very crafty
Hello I don't know any of you , but I woul really like to wish you all a very Merry and Healthy Christmas. My 2 girls are decorating our tree right now as we listen to Bobby Helms Christmas music. You all have helped a lot during the past year. Thanks again and God bless.
