Happy Solstice everyone. I would really like it if this was actually mid-summer as some call it, instead of just the beginning of summer.

Oh Toni, I prefer the start of summer, midsummer here is sun-baked while you watch your efforts cook and die! Oddly, it also means high steaming humidity! We get to run up to Ticonderoga in August, so I can escape for a week.

I really prefer the start of winter and hate seeing the start of summer since I know what is in store for the next 3+ months. I'm already making notes of the plants that aren't going to make it through June much less all the way to Sept.

August here is our hottest time too, last year we had 100+ temps 28 or the 31 days, the highest being 110 and the lowest 102.

I visited a friend in texas twice, once in a little town near Texas A&M and then later when she moved to Austin. It was mid October but felt like August!

I try to like everyday but if I won the lottery, I'd be up in Maine or Canada so fast I'd create a vacuum in NC! LOL I keep watching an island for sale up near the tippy top of Maine's coast.

But, I married a man with zero body fat and no tolerance for the cold... and he loves his job. So, until I win the lottery... more likely he's gonna have to sprinkle my ashes up there!

Happy Summer Solstice! We haven't got summer either yet, but I hope we'll have one and not move from late spring to early autumn as we did last year. (Toni would love it here!)

We're going to light a huge bonfire, scorch some hot dogs, wrap them in buns (forecast says dry weather on Saturday, so I hope we'll have DRY buns this year), roast some marshmallows and battle the midgets and other annoying critters while moaning about the sun turning. *sigh*
