While his name will probably only ring a bell with UK members on the site a personal hero of mine, Tony Hart, passed on today at 83. He was a presenter of art shows on children's TV. I used to draw A LOT when I was a wee kiddie and he was an inspiration to me, I'd never miss a show. So in honour here is a cute comic strip I created which you can be sure has a little Hart in it. RIP Tony.
I remember Tony Hart so well Frank. In fact it was mainly due to him that I took up sketching and painting. He'll be sadly missed by people (especially of my generation) but I hope his art lives on.
It's so hard when the old heroes pass away. We've lost some of our best loved personalities here during the last couple of years. The last one was philosopher Arne Næss, the father of the Arne Næss that was married to Diana Ross. They leave an emptiness that is difficult to fill up.
Yup, very sad to hear about Tony Hart. I used to love watching the gallery when I was little. They played the music from it on the radio today and it brought a lump to my throat. Seems like there have been a few people jumping off this mortal coil of late.
I can empathize, with you, when I was young, there was "The Howdy Doody show", and we kids were glued to our TV's every time the show came on. The creator was Buffalo Bob Smith. While this was just an entertainment show, I'm sure it was a part of many kids lives during that era. It's sad to loose those that were an influence on us as kids, as Buffalo Bob was, but when we do loose someone like that, it gives us pause, to look back and remember them, and that's good too. Tom
