It started raining this morning. Now normally this is a good thing, and we do appreciate the moisture. However, the temperature went down instead of up, and the wind was blowing about 30 mph. So, on this first of May, we are looking at record lows and a possibility of SNOW. I just peeked out the window, the flower beds are white! The weather guys say this is the latest snow in 40 years in these parts. May get about 2" tonight.
I am unhappy, because spring has been so late and we are just starting to see trees blossoming. My pretty Crabapples have their buds, and were ready to bloom. We had some good warm days, and now it seems we're back to winter. *sigh*

I know exactly what you mean Kay. We had a hard frost last night - the first for a couple of weeks. I just hope we don't get any more.

I'm rounding up heavy tarps. And putting stakes around to make tents. Got every thing from kids swimming pool to buckets . To snow and sleet here and get below freezing.

I was thinking about you. I saw denver had 20 inches or so of snow  . as much as I don't like the cold weather in Ohio during the winter it is now beautiful and I am thankful for it, but feel bad for the late snow victims in western mid-west.

No snow here.... but we'll be getting record low temps for the next two days of mid 40s.
I think Toni will be the only Texan happy about this cold front! :D

A sloppy wet 2" came down. It is cloudy, and the forecast is for more. Hope it's just rain today.
I can't believe how cold it is for May.
I gently brushed snow off the Yews and Burning Bushes whose limbs were hanging down with clumps of snow. I don't think this snow will do much harm, but it is once again setting us back, and we haven't been able to enjoy spring.
I do like the moisture soaking into the ground though.

Hi Kay,..sad to see you have snow and its almost like winter again,..i hope all your plants survive,..its a worry when the weather turns back to winter conditions,..certainly the plants were not prepared for that.

I know, Philip! So, far the plants in my landscape and those of my work are faring pretty well through these unseasonable conditions. Plants are sitting and waiting to open buds. I think despite the cold, the ground has warmed.
So spring is very, very LATE!
Today it is rainy, windy and about 40°F this morning.
When the plants do start to bloom, we'll have an explosion of color! I hope!

Hi Kay! I live near Omaha, so we probably have near identical forecasts. Things are starting to bloom here, looks like that last freezes may be over. My kitchen counter is filled with tomato plants, so I sure hope so.

    Hello there, Pianolady
Every day we just keep thinking... is today the day when it finally gets warm?
Not today (Sunday) still chilly...but getting better.
Before we know it, it'll be hot!
