The last time when I was trimming the overgrown creepers that had over taken the back portion of my house, a piece of the something flew into my eyes and it hurt for a day. I had never used any kind of eye protection for the past 30 or more years when I had to clean the compound. I had things flew into my eyes before but they usually hurt just for a minute or so. As a result of this experience I decided to get myself a pair of safety glass. Went to the DIY shop and tested out a couple of the safety glasses, they were like very uncomfortable. I noticed there was a sunglasses rack so I went there and tried a pair on and it was really comfortable and very reasonably priced ... about US$1.00. It is outdated and look ... hehe!!! I'll let you people decide It fit my purpose so I decided ..."Ahhh what the heck!!!" Cool Dude!!! ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden ) hehe!!! KK, is that a papaya in front of you in the second/bottom picture?.. Big chuckle at your pics thinking about the swooning, screaming, fainting, and heart attacks your pic will give all the "SAFETY" groups.. Hank
How to look really cool and protect your eyes at the same time. :-D Better watch out though for all the ladies passing by who'll think you may be a celebrity!!
Great! I use my trimmer weekly and always use safety glasses ... better safe than sorry I always say. But my glasses aren't nearly as stylish as yours!
kk, Anything is better than nothing. I have a commercial weed eater and I know it is dangerous to use without long sleeves and pants (believe me...personal knowledge here) and eye protection. Sometimes I even get my bee veil out to put over my head to keep the debris out of my hair and too keep from getting hit in the face. Is your eye okay now? You are one cool looking dude, too. Don't let your wife show you off to the neighbors, either. They may come and steal you. They get a cool looking dude that works very hard, too. What a bargain. And we would miss all your lovely posts.
Looking that cool, you'll never get any yard work done. Passersby will be asking for your autograph and wanting to snap a photo with you! Tom Cruise is eating his heart out . . . . Glad you're safe as well as cool.
I bet if the folks at the DIY store saw these photos, they'd go buy a rack of those sunglasses, raise the price and sell them as a new line of safety glasses.
Thank you all and I still had not get any cat calls except for that irrespondsible neighbour's cat that is treating the front yard like its toilet...grrr!!! Hank that is a papaya plant and if you look at it carefully it is already fruiting. It is the solo species and is hardly 4 feet tall at the moment. Solo papaya ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden ) If I am not wrong this species is from from Hawaii because it is also commonly known as Hawaii papaya. Thanks Blissful photons. Eileen thanks and I think the ladies were laughing when they passed by. Netty thank, want me to get you one? Thank you for your concern Carolyn, yes my eyes are OK. I learn my lesson the hard way. I think the neighbours are laughing secretly when I am not looking and Becky did laugh uncontrollably when she first saw me. Thanks Donna, don't forget the hat and head straight to Nashville!!! Marlingardener thanks and I sure did get much more work done because the passerby do keep their distance ... is it me or the flying debris!!! Thanks Cherylad maybe I should get royalty from them if they want to make use of my picture!!!
Those shades look reeeeely cool, mate. I wear them when I am strimming as well. I found some wrap-around ones that protect the sides of my eyes as well. My brides likes to strim, and I wear my "protective shades" when she strims as well...hahaha. The main point is that you have some sort of protection. When it comes top garden work I do not really care what I look like, for me the purpose is the most important thing.
Hubby's brother in law started some Papaya from a store-bought fruit. They gave me one and I'm going to put it in a big container to see if it will bear fruit. I've read that some are uni-sex... I hope this one is. If not, I still like because it's a pretty plant.
Thanks Sojerd, with all those wonderful comments I might just wear them to the mall too!!! 8) Cherylad, I started my plant from a store bought fruit too and the solo species is the uni-sex type.
KK, sprinkle HOT PEPPER around the perimeter of your lawn. The cat will not like that and will get it on it's tongue when cleaning its self....
