I have quite a few different plants in our flower gardens. They are all hardy to -30C, as sometimes winters do get that cold. Here are two of my favourites: ( photo / image / picture from CaribooValley's Garden ) It makes me smile to walk by the lilies, though, I always think they look so pretty. ( photo / image / picture from CaribooValley's Garden ) This one I know as Jacob's Ladder, I don't know if that is the proper name or not.
Very pretty shot. It is called Jacob's Ladder and it is one of my favorites! A little more info here: Polemonium caeruleum (Jacob's Ladder, Greek Valerian)
Yes thanks Netty. I realized that when I went back in to edit my photos, which I had in the wrong place for the captions. I'm learning how to post pictures over here! Do you have Jacob's Ladder in your garden? I love the pretty blue flowers
And one more... a Valerian. Beautiful fragrance! ( photo / image / picture from CaribooValley's Garden )
Yes, I have Jacobs Ladder in my garden. I look forward to it's delicate blooms each spring. I like your Valerian as well, but I haven't had much luck growing it I'm afraid.
Netty, do you know why it won't seem to grow for you? There are defintely some plants that I seem to have trouble with every time I give them a try. Blueberry shrubs for one. Even though I know they can grow in Zone 3 where we are. I've tried twice now and neither one made it.
Nice pics! I've had all three in my garden. With Polemoniun, it likes a little shade. In summer, it's hot and dry and I see some plants just wither away and die...
You have some lovely plants in your garden Cariboo. I especially like the Jacob's Ladder with it's delicate colouring. I must see if I can get Valerian to grow here as I do like scented flowers in the garden.
I've tried both white and red Valerian in my garden. While they did grow and bloom, they were very short lived and did not re-seed. I didn't put much thought into WHY, I just prefer longer lived plants in my gardens. Ironically, there is a clump of white valerian growing down the street beside the train tracks that has been there for years!
Three nice flowers,..those Lilies look very healthy,..lots of blooms,..and Valerian is a plant i must look into for the garden,..lovely blue Jacobs Ladder.
