Today we were visited by hoards of hungry starlings. I should think we had all the babies & parents from local nests in our garden The noise was deafening. Then suddenly one of them flew right into our bungalow through the open back door. It was flying from room to room with Busby (our dog) and me in hot persuit. I opened windows and the sliding patio door but the silly creature just ignored them and carried on flying around the room. It finally came to rest by a window and I managed to gently get hold of it and put it out where it flew away none the worse for wear. I tell you, I bet it would have made a comical film if my daughter had been here with her cam corder
Haha, I would have loved to see that! I'm glad you managed to evict it. Imagine if the other ones had followed to see what the racket was all about.
I can't help imagining Busby and you dashing from room to room in hot pursiut of that silly starling Gardengirl. Why is it they never seem to go anywhere near doors or windows when you want them to? It's good to know that the silly bird was returned to the wild with no lasting after effects from its ordeal.
I was chuckling out loud when I read your account of the starling in the house--then Droopy made that remark about "what if"...and I really burst out laughing--but your reaction was priceless.((( ))) ...my, oh my---I am weak.
Been there, done that, don't want to do it again! Nothing like an adrenaline rush while the bird is flapping around. Gets the old heart pumping and feeling alive. Yet I love creating a garden of Eden for my beautiful feathered friends. Just stay out of my house!
That had to be funny sight but even funnier is the house had filled up.What a mess that would have been.Just the thought sends shivers up my back.
I've had a small hummingbird do just that thing. Try and catch one of those little things. I finally threw a towel over it. Poor little thing was panting when I put it outside. I'm glad you only had one bird get inside. I can just see your dog "helping." LOL dooley
Oh, my, the idea makes me laugh. I can picture it -- was Busby barking? I wouldn't have known whether to laugh or cry! I'll bet your heart was pounding when it was all over!
No he didn't bark, I think he was just fascinated by this creature that had invaded his home It was just a big game for him chasing it around. Lucky he is quite obedient and 'left' it when I told him to as he could have done it some harm when it was on the floor.
Awe good Busby! what a thing to happen when your enjoying your afternoon of sunshine! I am glad the bird didnt mess in the house much that could have been difficult to clear up. I have never had a bird in the house but dread the thought I think I would be panicking as much as the bird
