Today is May 1--May Day! This is the day when we put down our hoes and clippers, and dance around the Maypole. We celebrate spring, and give each other May baskets. So, to all you on the Stew, here is a May basket, and a sincere hope for a good spring and fruitful summer. Dancing is optional . . . .
HAPPY MAY DAY JANE!! Here, in this part of Scotland, people climb an extinct volcano called Arthur's Seat to wash their faces in the first May dew at sunrise. Here's a link about it:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur's_Seat I used to do this each May day when I was involved with a hospital radio broadcasting station. We transmitted the programme to all the Edinburgh hospitals so that the patients could join in the festivities and fun.
Yay! It's Mayday! hip hip hooray. I can't believe we are to may 1 already. It seemed back in Jan. it was never going to get here. hip hip hooray! Happy Mayday to you too Jane!
I love celebrating May Day! I took bouquets, just a couple of roses and some artemesia in a few bud vases, to the local nursing home. Did you know an elderly person in a wheel chair can hug the stuffing out of you?
