I was sitting at the computer this afternoon when the wind started blowing something fierce. The dusty road had clouds of swirling dust and the trees were swaying and blowing towards the ground. There was a big clap of thunder so I quickly shut down the computer and went to the back deck to check things out. It was blowing stuff all around and I was catching things and stowing them and hurrying to get things situated before the rain came. After about three or four loud claps of thunder the wind quit, the thunder stopped and the storm was over. It moved so fast it didn't have time to rain on us.
Last night there was lightning to the north/northeast of us but it didn't rain on us then either.
Now, tomorrow I have to go to the doctor and it's an hours drive. So, there's a 30 percent chance of rain tomorrow. It will probably pour down on us so we can't see and we'll have to pull over and we'll be late for the doctor. It's a good thing our neighbor is driving us.
But, it's only a 30 percent chance so it will miss us as usual.

Sorry you missed out on some rain Dooley.
This afternoon, it poured at my office for about an hour. I was hoping we had gotten some measurable rain again here at home. But, there was barely 1/8th inch in the gauge. Oh well... a little bit is better than none!
Sure hope you get some rain tomorrow... but AFTER your doctor's appt!
Hope you've been taking it easy and you'll get a good report.

Sounds like you had the outflow from a collapsing thunderstorm. Those usually include very high winds for a short period of time and no rain and can be very dangerous.

Hi Dooley, sorry the rain missed you. Hopefully it catches your place after the doctor appointment and you get good news.

It has been bone dry here for about two months--but nothing like the drought you guys are having. Now we are getting some nice thundershowers occassionally with several inches of rain. I hope Texas and the south gets relief ASAP. A good tropical storm with lots of rain would help.
