We used to go to Flamingo Land every year when the children were at home. We would pitch our tent and have a wonderful time. The kids loved all the rides and we loved walking around the zoo and watching films in the house at night.
Ahhh the memories your photographs brought back. :D

We all loved it Eileen, the last time I went I was 15! alots changed . . . glad to have brought back some happy memories for you :-D We're already looking into spending a few nights there. They have a camp site on their doorstep now. . . can't remember if it was there when I last went.

Cheryl I was a bit annoyed at missing the flamingos, but the place was so big!! We somehow managed to bypass a large section of the park were the hippo's, elephants and flamingos were . . oooops :-D

The campsite used to be on the left as you went into the park. All the rides and the zoo were on the right. There was a caravan park at the top end and more camping spaces. The cost was for your camp site, all the rides while you were there and entrance to the zoo and the big house. All in all it was a cheap holiday for two adults and three children. :-D
I was in my early thirties when I was last there - that would be almost thirty years ago!! I would love to go back and see what changes have been made but I think I'd stay in a caravan now as I'm way to old for living in a tent.

I like zoos, and the one you visited looks very interesting. I remember going to a couple of zoos abroad when I was little. All the animals had small cages then. :( The zoos we visit these days have large areas for the animals to roam and hide in, and even though we can't always see them, I feel it's a lot better for them. After all, they're the ones living there. We're only visitors.
