Your dianthus are gorgeous!! I haven't seen honesty around here for years but lately it seems to be springing up on roadside verges.
Hoi KM, It is nice to see your array of Dianthus plants in bloom. You call them "Sweet Williams", right?. I did those a couple of times, and you are so right--the smell is to die for. So nice, The Chives are also in bloom over here. The bees certainly do like them. Do you know--I have still not yet seen the first butterfly. How about there? I have seen some small moths. It is amazing to see the Honesty seed cases. Tja!--I have not even seen one of those plants in bloom here this year at all. Well, it was a great post of colour and fragrance description. I hope to see more as your garden beging to come into its own. Cheers
Gorgeous! I have some Dianthus... two of them seem to be dying off but one is doing well. They sure are pretty.
Thank you Eileen.I haven't see honesty in the hedgerows down here, but then I haven't really looked for it.Mostly we see tyres and old shopping trolleys Glad you like my pics Sjoerd. Sweet williams are slightly different and have clusters of smaller flowers, these stay pretty much on their own. Butterflies are quite rare at the moment,I've only seen 3 or 4 in my garden so far The honesty is one I grew from seed last year and is the sole survivor of those that bothered to germinate.I've wanted this plant for ages as I have fond memories from time spent in my Grandma's garden playing with the seed cases in their paper state. Cheryl,I hope your plants recover. I planted these in bigger pots yesterday ready to go out-they were really pot-bound so I hope I haven't damaged the roots too much by trying to help them.
Ah yes...of course. My fault. Well, these little singles look pretty nice, I must say. I played with the dry seed cases an my grandparents' too. I had a great interest at everything that they grew in fact. There was a big rainstorm over here tonight...in fact, it is still carrying on. Lucky that I got the broadies tied-up today and the parsnips planted. Good grief, everything is so late this year!
