You have so much variety and colour in your garden Petunia. I have orange, white and pink geraniums like yours but I haven't got a red one. I love the colour of your nierembergia and your dianthus are very pretty.

    Well done, Petunia!
What good fotos of your wonderful selection of flowers.
Your array of Dianthus sorts are very impressive. The one with the light pink and white bands is especially nice.
I have never heard of the common name, "Fortress". I don't know what it is, but it'slooks very nice to me.

thaks so much for taking and showing these beautiful and varied fotos, Petunia.

Thanks everyone. The dianthuses, lavendar, the jumping jack and mini rose are all in my new corner flower garden. The rest are scattered around the front and back yard. I need to to divide the hostas and the lillies and scatter them where ever I can find room. I am hoping the cleome will return next year but if not I'm collecting the seeds from them-they smell sooo good, I don't know how I missed these flowers at the beginning of spring.

Very nice, and a nice difference in colors too. I like the black eyed susans. Also that last one, the hydranga, is that the plant that if you want the color changed to blue you plant nails in the soil, or is it the other way around? I been thinking on getting one of those, but i want it to be blue.

Biita: Yes that is the same plant. Where I used to live, this bush starting turning to a lime green on its own. They do have a way to turn blue, I've never heard of the nail thing though. I have taken pieces off it this past spring and put them elsewhere in the yard and now have two new bushes started. one of the new ones even had a tiny flower on it this year already.
    Thanks for the compliment.

To get a Hydrangea to turn blue... insert rusty nails (3-4) in the soil 3 inches or so right around the plant. ;)

You can indeed put rusty nails in the ground near the roots of your hydrangias to urge them to change colour from pink to blue.
However, if you don't have any nails handy, another very easy way is to apply a water soluble compound of Aluminium Sulfate and Iron- (50g/5 liters of water, covers 1 m²). Almost all garden centers have this for sale, and it is available to order over the Internet as well.
The Aluminium Sulfate makes the soil acid (which is necisary for having blue blooms)and the iron can be taken up to actively aid in the changing of the colour.
Of course if you want to be really fancy, you can also use a special type of commercial soil for Rhododendrons, azalias and Hydrangias. Most garden centers have bags of this for sale.
