We just bought a house and these are some plants/flowers growing outside. I just want to know what they are, especially the 1st tall one. It seems to collect water that turns bubbly where the leaves or branches stem out. hello rierie I can help with a few. your 3rd pict is a hosta it will have purple flowers. your last picture I know I've seen and probably should know but it could be a verbena (?). Someone will be along shortly that can help you more.
#4 looks like hibiscus leaves.I'm not sure.I am not very good at iding but others will be on soon and tell you.
The last one #5 looks like a Spirea shrub. The next but last looks like a Hydrangea. Somebody posted that white bloom not long ago, but I can't remember the name now.
The last 3 are Hosta, Hydrangea, and Spiraea. The first looks familiar but just can't place it right now.
Could #1 be a dogwood bush? Are the veins on the leaves pronounced? Here is a pic of one. http://www.pbase.com/hjsteed/image/59444836 http://www.pbase.com/hjsteed/image/59444833 The color of the stems and the way the leaves connect to the stems reminds me of a dogwood in bush form.
the leaves don't look the same on the dogwood. i know it was planted purposely because they had the area around the bottom cut out and taken care of. it is growing very very quickly, taller and taller. it is about 4 ft tall now.
