In a large glass jar stir together, cover and store in refrigerator
2.5 cups sugar and 1 large can sliced peaches

Day 11- add and stir 2.5 cups sugar and a large can of fruit cocktail return to fridge

Day 22 - add and stir 2.5 cups sugar and 1 cup pineapple chunks and 1 large jar of maraschino cherries return to fridge

Day 33 - Drain fruit, save juice into 2 cup jars.
Divide fruit into 1.5 cup jars.
This time do not refrigerate fruit or juice.

You can make the cakes as gifts and give them along with a jar of the juice and the starter instructions for them to start their own and a copy of the cake recipe.

The juice becomes a starter for the next batch. You add the peaches to it and go from there.

Sounds like a great dessert that would go well with a hot cup of tea.

I made the cakes several years ago for christmas gifts and luck would have it there wasn't enough for a cake for us. But the son of one of Randy's single friends we gave a cake too, sent me a message stating....'name your price' meaning he would pay/give me anything I wanted if I could make him another cake. :-D
I don't know what it tasted like but it must have been good.

I just haven't thought to make the starter again, but I guess I will have to.
