We drove to Columbus, Ohio today and went to the Museum of Art. They had a display of Dale Chihully blown glass on display. Here are a few of the pics of them. These were all taken with available light, no flash at all. Then after we got done there we went to COSI which stands for Center Of Science and Industry. They had a display of artifacts from the Titanic. It was very well done and was really facinateing. Unfortunatly, you could not take any photographs of any of it.
Gosh it's hard to believe that everything is made out of blown glass. What wonderful, and beautiful, displays.
The Titanic display took over an hour to see. They had about 10 display rooms and the halls in between them were done up like you were in the passageways of the ship. The first room was really dark and it made you feel like you were in the dead of night. You could hear ocean sounds and also the sound of the ships whistle in the background. It was really impressive and intriqueing. They had a mockup of a 1st class cabin with a tour guide dressed in the clothing of the day explaining about it. They also had a mockup of the grand staircase that was really beautiful.
That sounds wonderful! Kind of gives me chills, thinking about all that beauty and then the disaster :'( I like the passageway idea. Is that the only display of it's kind?
I LOVE Chihuly's glass pieces. Back in the late 90's there was a PBS program about him and the pieces he was making to hang in various places in Venice, Italy. The third photo looks like an under-the-sea garden. Beautiful!!
Strats, I think it is. It is here through Labor Day and then it gets dismantled and moved somewhere else.
Sounds like you guys had a really nice day. I liked the glass displays. That is a famous artist. Thanks for showing these.
