I often bring fresh breads to the hair salon, simply because the stylists and the clients are such nice people (and I love the cooing sounds they make when they see what is in the bread bag). Recently, one of the ladies asked me for the recipe for Onion Basil bread, her absolute favorite. I told her I'd print it out and bring it next week. When I arrived, there was a grocery bag with 5# of unbleached flour, a 1# bag of yeast, a 3# bag of onions, and a potted basil. There was also a bottle of very good extra-virgin olive oil, and a thank-you note signed by six ladies. I nearly cried--not only do I get the pleasure of making the bread, but also of seeing it appreciated! Do you give food gifts just for the pleasure of sharing?
I do make cookies and share them. I took a big box to the employees at Perkins restaurant last week. I do sewing. I sew reusable shopping bags and give them to people who ride the buses that we ride. I started giving them to bus drivers and expanded to passengers. I have one on the sewing table that I need to finish for a passenger.
Not much for me. But this morning I did polish two bags of apples to take along to the ER dept and the surgeons. they were pleasantly delighted to get them. I should clarify... not much baking. I do love to see people savor tasty veg. and fruits. I give apples away and tomatoes... whatever is in season... free samples... just try it.
I'm not much of a baker but I do give away all extra veggies my garden produces. Years ago when I had chickens I'd take in half dozens of eggs to my office. They'd get totally snapped up fast as the eggs were deee-licious
Whenever I make cookies or cake, I take some in for coworkers. The produce manager had me bake him some cookies and even a carrot cake once, and he bought me extra ingredients (even though I didnt really need them, I had plenty )
It is so heartwarming to hear of all the kind things Stewies do for others. Of course, it is to be expected--gardeners are generous and kind, and share when they can. Y'all are so good to others!

If you live in eastern USA and will promise to wintersow them I will get you chestnuts and rootstock apple (seed) for your plantation. Antonovka apple grows a very vigorous standard cold hearty rootstock to graft your own apple scions onto.
What a great way to show appreciation, it is touching and very pleasant I do sometimes when I make bread or cook something and share with the neighbours, some veggies from the garden too! They show their appreciation by sending their grass clippings to me when they do their lawns and sometimes they also share food from their kitchen too! It's always a pleasant surprise , it feels good to share.
This fella sister married into my family in his travels into eastern Pa. He is my kin......LOL Of course we all know he went on to Ohio and Il, and even more up north.....Preaching and planting orchards.....They named a town after my family, Silvis, Illinois. I lived there many years ago and didn't know about this till recently...
