Last weekend we had a lovely day out at Eastbourne where the Airbourne 2010 air show was taking place, amongst other things. It was a beautiful day which made it perfect for taking photos of the air display. It was a bit difficult to capture as you can image the planes were travelling extremely fast, especially the red arrows which put on an amazing display. Here are a few of my attempts which I am quite pleased with, including a photo of the beautiful display of flowers along the sea front. ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) You can just make out the figures of the wing walkers who were adopting all kinds of acrobatic positions, very scarey. The photos are well done. I haven't been to an air show in years, I really enjoy the CAF airshows with the WWII planes. The landscaping is very bright and cherry, getting photos of it was worth the trip on it's own.
I enjoyed seeing the photos of the air show, and I really love the garden photo! Very pretty! Thanks for sharing, looked like a fun day for you.
Fab pics there Pat, so clear and sharp, and lovely blue sky. I love an air show - went to a Battle of Briton one last week. Those wing walkers...brave or what?!?!?!?!?
You did much better than I ever did Pat. I tried to get shots of the Red Arrows when they visited up here but failed miserably. I did get the coloured smoke they emitted by not the planes themselves as I forgot to put on the zoom lens. ops The flower displays are so lovely and bright. So glad you had such good weather for your day out.
Fantastic shots! I haven't been to an airshow since I was a young girl. The garden is beautiful! (but my first thought was wow, that's a lot of deadheading!!)
Remarkable set of fotos, GG. Those old planes are great to see. I think that those air shows are fun for children and adults alike. Lovely flowers as well.
I'm envious! I got to watch the Red Arrows in Bristol years ago and it was such fun to see. I've never seen a wing walker in all my life. Scary.
You are quite right Netty I thought the same Here are a few more shots ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) This was part of the 'coloured vapour' display, as you can see I nearly missed it! I have however got some video clips, so difficult to keep up with them though. ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) This one is called the Vampire which was the first single engine jet fighter to enter service with the RAF with its maiden flight on 20th Sept. 1943. It was the first jet aircraft to land and take-off from an aircraft carrier and the first jet to cross the Atlantic. Interestingly it was from de Havilland which was situated just down the road from where we live. ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) Another aerobatic display, fantastic. ( photo / image / picture from Gardengirl's Garden ) A shot of the end of the pier with all the little boats, very picturesque on such a lovely day. You will note all the people crowded on the pier to watch the display. The seafront and beach were so crowded it was hard to fight your way through.
Wow, really great photos GG! It looks like it was a fun display, very exciting! the pier area looks fun too. What kinds of things go on inside that lovely building? I love seeing pictures of things going on in far away places... thanks!
Very beautiful pictures...I love the white plumes against the blue of the sky. Thanks for posting them.
We didn't get time to go on to the pier daisybeans but usually there is a theatre at the end of a pier and amusement arcades, kiosks selling all sorts of seaside things. Maybe next time we go we will get to go on and I will let you know :-D
