As I was coming home from a short fishing expedition a couple of days ago. I came across a wonderful find. New Home sewing machine -circa 1913 ( photo / image / picture from Daniel Mazur's Garden ) There's a price tag on it from a garage sale maybe? If you can get it to work them you'll have a great sewing machine on your hands Daniel. Was someone throwing it away then?
That's just like the one we had when I was a kid. It was really old then! That IS a great find. Hope it works after it's rewired.
No, stratsmom. I got it for the best price (free). The cabinet is wobbly, among a few other things. I was driving and there it was along side someones trash!
Yeah, eileen. Right there with the trash it was. When I drove by, it cauhgt my eye. At fifty miles an hour my brain didn't fully register. I looked in my rearview mirror as I was braking since there were no cars behind me thinking by then that it looked too good to be true. Then I saw the cord hanging down underneath the cabinet. I made a u-turn and went to look at it. My heart was pounding like you wouldn't believe. When I looked underneath and I could see the machine I thought "let's get this baby in the car and go home. So that day I caught a four and a half to five pound largemouth bass, and found a beautiful sewing machine. I feel one braggin' right deserves another!
No stratsmomm, unfortuneately I'm not. I've always wanted an antique sewing machine collection though. I like the way they look and the way the mechanics of them are. I think they're one of the most ingenious mchines ever designed and/or invented. I still can't believe I found one, actually. I could use a little luck now and again though. Maybe the luck'll run a while longer and I could find a few more sewing machines.{:~)
