This is Off topic but you are all my friends and I wanted to share this with all of you. I am saddened by the lose of a great friend, Someone who has touched all of our lives. Most of you have one or have played with his wonderful Toy. Walter F. Morrison! The man that Invented the FRISBEE or Pluto Platter as it was first called. He has been my great Friend for many years. He passed away in his sleep Tuesday night at the age of 90 years. My 3 girls knew him as Walt the "No Good Fairy" as he liked to call himself, He always had a pocket full of Charleston Chews for them. We loved him dearly and although he is at peace and out of pain now we miss him, He leaves me and my family with many memories of the fun we shared with him! He died from cancer. I say a prayer of thanks for have know this man and being able to call him my friend. My God take him home and reunite him with is wife and soul mate who passed away year ago.
Condolences to you, your family and his too. How sad. I've enjoyed playing with the frisbee for many year, and still plan to enjoy it.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your good friend PondLady. He did live a quite interesting life according to his Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Frederick_Morrison Inventor of the Frisbee and prisoner of war during WWII, jeepers. I certainly played frisbee growing up, so he affected my life in a way also.
I'm sorry to hear of the death of your 'No good fairy' pondlady. My condolances to you and your family at this sad time.
Our condolences Pondlady, the world was made better by your friends' contributions. Thank you for bringing his passing to our attention. God bless you Walter.
May he rest in peace and may your family and his find comfort in his life to help you thru his passing. His 'toy' has started a sport of sorts. About 10 years ago Frisbee Golf fields started appearing in public parks around here. On nice days year round you can find men in groups of 2 - 10 with their bags of Frisbees playing the course. I think it's like regular golf but you have to get the Frisbee in a basket that is hanging about 4 feet off the ground and each basket has a degree of difficulty depending on how far away the throwing spot is from the basket.
I heard this news on the radio. I am sorry for your loss pondlady. Who would have thought such a simple toy could bring so much pleasure to people, young and old. We have a stack of frisbees, all different, and the kids love them, as does their dad. A man who was obviously intouch with his inner child - if only we could all be so lucky.
My condolences to you and your family and all of his friends...we have had many a frisbies chewed up at our house...but only had one dog that could catch them in flight most of the time.
I too am so sorry to hear of the loss of not just a great inventor, but a friend and loved one. I echo the sentiments exactly that he be reunited with his precious wife and soul mate. May you find comfort and joy in all the memories you will always have of this mans part in your family's life.
