    Here's the prints:

Let me throw in a little reminder here-This monster first of all has to get out of the lake, cross over our neighbors yard, go across the road, and either come up the our hill (of which I've showed picts of before) or come up our driveway into our yard.
    Here's the hole we found:

    This is the culprit:

This last one-is the snapping turtle snapping at our outside dog 'Buddy' on the otherside of the fence.

This snapper here isn't even one of the big ones that we actually seen before. My daughters boyfriend has been out in his kayak and actually dragged one up on top of his boat by the tail-That one was the huge one. Its mouth was bigger then his hand at the time. These turtles start coming into yards around here about this time to lay their eggs and then leave back to the lake. Sometimes these eggs will hatch and sometimes not. I have covered a hole before in hopes for the eggs to be safe from predators. Weeks later I uncover the bucket and eggs and found baby turtles in the little hole.
I think I will try and cover this large hole and see what happens. If there's any success I will post picts of baby turtles in the future.

Big turtle! I'd probably be scared if I ever came across a really big one. Fingers crossed for those turtle eggs. Turtle babies are sweet. :D

That is a fair size lady and she could
take a finger off real easy.Buddy sure needed that fence up other wise he might get a big permanent ornament hanging from him.I would love to see the babies you uncover.

I hope Buddy didn't get his nose or toes to near that turtles mouth!!! I wonder if all the babies will manage to hatch out, with your help, and return to the lake to have babies of their own in time? I look forward to piccies of the babies if they do appear. :-D

I'm going to keep a close eye on that hole. We also found a few diggings in our front yard I'm keeping an eye on. We had some company come in and they seen a painted turtle on the side of the drive laying eggs. I'll be looking out for that one as well.

We have an occasional turtle visitor from the ditch behind our home. I have not seen holes, but the beach near us watched and protects turtles. They are "stars" here on the coast.
    Hope to see your babies.

When I was a kid, we used to catch snappers in the creek. The biggest one we ever caught was about 15 lb. They are really good eating. People say that they taste like 7 different kinds of meat. I alway thought they tasted just like chicken! We used to put a stick in their mouth and pull the head out and lop it off with a hatchet. Their beak would stay cosed on that stick for up to a year. Not until the tendons rotted off would the jaws open.

These are very interesting pics. It's always fascinating to see animals from the other side.

How cool! We've been seeing lots of turtles crossing the roads around here. In fact, DH brought one home the other day. I told him to take it back...geeze he's just like a little kid sometimes!

The kids around here used to do what Capt. Kirk was doing as a kid. I just watched from afar. I never dared get too close, for sure. I can't wait to see the pics of those baby turtles. Best of luck. Your pics are very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Well another giant was up into the driveway again early this morning. We temporarly trapped it for family to see. sometimes they don't see them in Missouri in the subs. This one was a bit bigger a made quit the mess in our drive today. When she was finally done, she started heading for my pond. I had acouple of the boys shew her away and put her done at the end of the drive.
