As a young girl I used to have piano lessons. I never did learn how to play it properly. Now I know I still can't get a tune out of one. It was lots of fun trying though and there was no ruler being cracked over my knuckles this time.
I had to ask my daughter why there is no a# on the black keys.. so she explained and I still don't really get it. Now how all of my children turned out so musical, I am puzzled. Everyone of them plays and most well. I guess 10 years of lessons had helped each one.
It certainly is a bit of fun if you don't play any of the instruments. Like most people when in school we had music lessons,..and like Eileen i got rapped on the knuckles several times,..but then gave up the lessons. About two years after this we had a pupils concert in the school,during a break in rehearsals one pupil was playing the piano,..my ex music teacher remarked that he bet i regretted not keeping up music lessons,..he knew i loved music,..i replied that i didn't miss the lessons that i still played the piano at home,..he put me to the test,..i played well enough for him to ask,...how?,..it seems i have the ability to play by ear.
