String, birds love small pieces of cotton string about 4 to 6 inches. My father would save all the old string during the winter, cut it into pieces and put it on a board near a feeder. During nesting season it was gone in days.

I used to put out all the hair from our Labrador's grooming sessions and the birds loved it. As he was groomed daily there was a constant supply for them. Nowadays I take a walk along to our Heritage centre and collect the wool from their sheep (which gets snagged on the fences) for them as well as little twigs and moss. :-D

Great idea Kildale. I save my old cocoa liners and pull them apart for the birds.
