We were cleaning out my dad's old workshop/garage so we could tear it down and replace it. My brother had put alot of the junk in a trailer to be sold for scrap metal. Luckily I got to go through it before it was too late and saved this old burner.
(It was't dismantled like this then... I started taking it apart to clean and then realized that I should take a "before" photo.)

So... I took it completely apart, sanded out the rust, lubbed the screws, etc and polished the brass.
Now for the paint. When I saw this thing in the junk pile, I immediately had visions of it being bright and colorful. So, naturally, I went with my fav colors.

All doing this time, hubby and friends kept asking what I was doing and why? They should have known... it was flowers!
I've had this old pot with roses on it for a while now. The freeze this winter killed the Ivy I had in it... so I just HAD to go buy a new plant. I chose a Creeping Phlox. Probably not the ideal thing for the pot, but I loved the delicate leaves and flowers.

And then I just needed one more planter/flower. It was easy to decide what to use. My mom, for some reason, would put her old worn out tea kettles on a fence post. So I just grabbed my favorite one and chose to put in an English Primrose. Again, probably not the right plant... but I loved the contrast of the hardy-looking leaves and the delicate flowers.

So... here's how my dad's old burner looks now...

Hey... it just hit me... with this set-up, I looks like I'm making "Garden Stew"!

I love the GardenStew you are cooking up!!

Another piece of junk turned into a useful and very pretty garden piece. I love it, just added old burner to my list of things to search for.
The Primrose is perfect in that tea pot, for some reason I have always associated Primrose with the British, the British drink a lot of tea, so therefore a Primrose in a tea kettle is a logical combination to me.

Toni... I didn't even make the association of the tea kettle and the British/tea. I'm so clever and didn't even know it! :D

What a wonderful find! I don't know if I would have used it for a plant stand but it makes a perfect one none the less.

From what we can tell, it will probably still work as an actual burner. Had to convince Hubby to just leave it alone! :D
