A new Visitor... not sure if I should welcome him/her

    Tina, That is cute.... Just put the new visitor in a jar with a stick and a stem with leaf till someone here helps you with the id of that new visitor..... I don't know what he is but it's fun to watch them change into whateverrrrr they are going to.

    When in doubt, I will move them to a vacant field...

    Most butterfly caterpillars don't have hairs. I'd bet you've got a moth caterpillar there. Some sting, so don't try to move it bare-handed.
    The vacant field idea sounds good!

    I can't kill anything, even spiders which I hate. I have my own personal "catch and release" program going with the unwanted bugs and other creepy crawlies that I discover in my yard. I catch them and take them to the local park a mile away and release them there.
