I was setting at the sewing machine, working on covers for cushions for my bench outside in the little yard. Chance started to bark and I looked up and coming through the front gate was my sister Ellen, from California. She is my baby sister, 17 years younger than I am. I didn't even know she was in Arizona. I hadn't seen her since they were here when John had R&R from Iraq about 18 months ago. Maybe it was a little longer than that, I'm not for sure. They had made a quick trip, coming over on Friday and going back tomorrow. John's parents are elderly and are moving so they came to help sort and pack as the movers are coming Wednesday. Ellen could only stay a couple of hours but I was happy to see her and we talked nonstop. Dooley
What a fantastic surprise seeing your sister walking through the gate Dooley!!! :-D You must have been thrilled to bits to see her after so long.
I was 17 when Ellen was born and my mom was 41. So, we spoiled Ellen a lot. When I got married when she was three she was so mad. She never liked my oldest son because then he got the attention. We've had our ups and downs since then but I was very happy to see her. She gets lonesome for family as I do because she's always lived close to family until John's job took them to California. Our family was always scattered across the country so it's always a happy time when some of us get together. Ellen wasn't able to come to the reunion because her two oldest boys march with the CalTech Marching Band and there was a conflict with the schedule of the band and the reunion. Dooley
That sure was a nice surprise. I would like to see her but maybe when I get out there again. She is 19 years younger than I and I wasn't around much when she was growing up. Wannabe
