We've had a couple of mild days, and guess what decided to cheer up a dreary looking garden: It's a Helleborus, I think it's purpurescens, but my gardening encyclopedia otherwise known as "Mother" is unavailable today. This hellebore flowered in January and I had not expected to see her again this side of New Year, but I'm very pleased that I do. She'll be gone with the first heavy snowfall, of course.
Hellebores certainly cheer you up during months when very little else is flowering. However, mine don't start to show their faces until mid-January so it's great to see yours Droopy.
Thank you all. She's still out there. Eileen, mine normally flower in spring, when the snow is gone, from March onwards.
